   General Application Relay

     High-voltage relays are used to transfer power in high-voltage and high-frequency applications. They are heavily insulated and consist of strong materials to increase contact life.
 
   Machine Control (Heavy Duty) Relay
 
     Machine-control relays are heavy-duty devices that are used to control starters and other industrial components.
 
   Reed Relay
 
     Reed relays can switch devices such as solenoids, contactors and starter motors.

   Single Pole (SP)
 
     Single pole (SP) relays have a single, moveable lever with a contact at the end.
 
   Double Pole (DP)
 
     Double pole (DP) relays consist of two, single-pole contacts that are concurrently actuated by the same mechanical system and operation. Typically, the first line is hot and the second is neutral.
 
   Triple Pole (TP)
 
     Triple pole (TP) relays consist of three single-pole contact systems.
 
   Four Pole (4P)
 
     Relays with more than three poles are indicated by the number of single-pole contacts followed by the letter "P". For example, four-pole relays are 4P devices.

     This category includes relays with more than four circuit contacts.

   Single Throw
 
     Single throw (ST) relays have a pair of contacts that are open in one position and closed in the other.
 
   Double Throw
 
     Double throw (DT) relays have three contacts. In one position, the first is in contact with the second, but not the third. In the other relay position, the connection is reversed.

   Normally Open (NO)
 
     With normally open (NO) devices, the relay contact pair is open when the coil is not energized.

   Normally Closed (NC)
 
     With normally closed (NC) devices, the relay contact pair is closed when the coil is not energized.

   Changeover (CO)
 
     Changeover relays typically have one set of Form C contacts and are single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) devices.

Contact Ratings




   Maximum Current
 
     This is the maximum continuous current allowable across the relay output terminals under the specified heat dissipation and ambient temperature conditions. Generally, AC current is specified in RMS units. Maximum current is also known as the maximum switching voltage range, or the maximum switching current.

   Maximum AC Switching Voltage
 
     This is the maximum AC switching voltage.

Coil Ratings




   AC Coil Voltage
 
     This is the AC voltage rating of the relay actuation coil. 
 
   Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   DC Coil Voltage
 
     This is the DC voltage rating of the relay actuation coil.
 
   Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Coil Resistance
 
     The resistance of the actuation coil is measured in ohms (Omega: Ohms).

   Coil Nominal AC Power
 
     Coil nominal AC power is measured in volt amperes (VA).

   Make Time (Operate Time)
 
     Make time (operate time, pick-up time) is the time required from actuation to the full current-carrying state.

     Break time (release time, drop-out time) is the time from deactivation to the open state.

   Convertible Contacts
 
     Convertible contacts can be reconfigured from normally open (NC) to normally closed (NC), and vice versa.
 
   Current Sensitive
 
     Current sensitive relays are used to indicate when a preset AC or DC current threshold is exceeded.  
 
   Expandable Deck
 
     Adder or expandable decks allow the addition of poles to the relay configuration.
 
   Intrinsically Safe
 
     Intrinsically safe (IS) devices will not produce sparks or thermal effects under normal or abnormal conditions that ignite a specified gas mixture.  
 
   Poly-Phase Relay
 
     Relays are used for switching poly-phase power.

     Push-to-test buttons allow the manual actuation of contacts for circuit testing.
 
   Sealed Relay
 
     Relays are sealed to prevent the ingress of contaminants, water, etc.   
 
   Time Delay
 
     Relays provide time delay on make, time delay on break, single shot, recycling, and interval timing functions.
 
   Visual Indicator
 
     The relay has visual indicator such as a light-emitting diode (LED). 
 
   Voltage Sensitive
 
     Voltage-sensitive devices are used to detect abnormal conditions on the line side of the relay.
