The recognition of these parts by UL, with the additional testing to UL497A – normally applied to multi-component protection modules, rather than discrete components – permits integration of the device without additional module or equipment testing. The PolySwitch TRF600-150 devices help protect against current transients that exceed nominal operating values of telecommunications lines, and helps manufacturers of equipment that must comply with the telecom requirements of UL60950 reduce test time and expenses.
The compact physical dimensions of the PolySwitch TRF600-150 device facilitate development of more densely populated PCB designs, and permit drop-in replacement for many existing designs. In addition, the new TRF600-150 device is compliant with the RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) Directive 2002/95/EC that bans or restricts the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated biphenyl ethers (PBDE).
