Much of today's high-tech equipment ships with a serial port for programming, monitoring or diagnostics, but these ports are rarely used for their intended purposes. With B&B's Vlinx Serial Server, you can put those ports to work for you, saving you time and trips to the factory floor. With Vlinx, you will: Communicate with every piece of equipment from any networked PC Reduce service calls Increase productivity by knowing what your equipment is doing before you get a trouble report Spend more time doing your work, not chasing down problems at remotely located equipment Simply connect a Vlinx Serial Server between the equipment's serial port and the Ethernet LAN. Your equipment is now online and will appear as a local COM port on any networked PC running B&B's Virtual Serial Port software. No software customization required. The LAN is transparent to the application software. Vlinx provides secure access to the setup men and server once the unit programmed and installed in an application. Choose from three serial interface options: RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485. The Ethernet connection auto selects 10BaseT or 100 BaseTX. Unique Features ESP901 has one DB9 serial port selectable for RS-232, 422 or 485. ESP902 has two serial ports. One serial port is selectable for RS-232, 422 or 485; the other is RS-232 Applications · Industrial – PLC's, drives, motors · Retail/ Point of Sale – cash registers, scanners · Healthcare – patient monitoring equipment · Building/Security – parking control, security, cameras · Traffic Management – lights, systems, cameras · Console Management Routers, Servers, PBX System Integrators and OEM 's Ask how B&B Electronics can best fill your product requirements Operation Modes · Virtual COM port · TCP/IP socket and tunneling · UDP/IP socket and tunneling Specifications · Ethernet connector: RJ-45 10/100 Base-T · Serial connector: DB9 male (1 on ESP901, 2 on ESP902) · Power requirements: 12 VDC, power supply included (B&B model 232PS3) · Dimensions: 3.35 x 4.50 x .90 in (8.5 x 11.5 x 2.3 cm) Heartbeat Ensures Reliable Communications In case of a power failure or loss of the Ethernet connection on the client or server, the Vlinx Serial Server automatically reconnects the TCP data connection. Once a client - either Virtual COM or ESP901 Client - establishes a connection with a server, it starts the "Heartbeat" sequence, with the server sending signal to the client every five seconds. If the client does not hear from the server it sends a signal to the server until communication is established. The Heartbeat feature works with virtual COM and TCP direct IP connections. Intuitive Management Software The provided Vlinx software allows simple access to the Serial Server menu settings. Telnet and Console mode may also be used to configure the server.
