Hypertronics Corporation, a world leading provider of high performance interconnect solutions for the most demanding applications, today announced the release of VME64x, a ruggedized interconnect solution designed for use in Military, Aerospace and Telecommunications critical applications. Hypertronics' VME64x comprise optimized contact lead traces which provide superior performance in high-speed signal applications.
The new VME64x connectors from Hypertronics feature Hypertac® contact technology which offer a significantly improved interface for immunity to shock and vibration and low mating forces. Used in all of Hypertronics' products, Hypertac features a hyperboloid-shaped basket of individual spring wires that deliver the highest level of reliability and performance.
VME64x is designed to be mechanically compliant with IEEE-1101.2-1992, ruggedization level 5 – supporting the premier embedded bus architecture. Aluminum frames provide ruggedness and conduction cooling. A keying feature ensures proper mating .
According to Vadim Radunsky, VP of Engineering & Business Development at Hypertronics, the physical demands of critical applications require this higher standard of reliability.
"Off-the-shelf connectors can't stand up to the rigors of these types of applications, and design failure simply isn't an option," said Vadim. "Our engineers have put together a complete solution… a connector that removes weakness of electrical interface from the standard VME COTS architecture, reducing costs of development, manufacturing and ownership."
Hypertronics will offer both standard and customizable solutions in a versatile, stackable design that allow the length of the connector to be changed by wafer increments of five contacts. With Hypertronics' new connectors, manufacturers with critical applications are guaranteed reliable, high performance connector solutions for situations in which the cost of failure is incalculable.
