Much of today's high-tech equipment ships with a serial port for programming, monitoring or diagnostics, but these ports are rarely used for their intended purposes. With B&B's Vlinx Serial Server, you can put those ports to work for you, saving you time and trips to the factory floor. With Vlinx, you will:

Choose from three serial interface options: RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485. The Ethernet connection auto selects 10BaseT or 100 BaseTX.

Heartbeat Ensures Reliable Communications

In case of a power failure or loss of the Ethernet connection on the client or server, the Vlinx Serial Server automatically reconnects the TCP data connection. Once a client - either Virtual COM or ESP901 Client - establishes a connection with a server, it starts the "Heartbeat" sequence, with the server sending signal to the client every five seconds. If the client does not hear from the server it sends a signal to the server until communication is established.

The Heartbeat feature works with virtual COM and TCP direct IP connections.

Intuitive Management Software

The provided Vlinx software allows simple access to the Serial Server menu settings. Telnet and Console mode may also be used to configure the server.
